
Crispy Mozzarella Sticks with Marinara & Creamy Dip

For the Mozzarella Sticks:

1 lb mozzarella cheese, cut into 1-inch thick sticks or cubes

1 cup all-purpose flour
-
2 large eggs, beaten
-
1½ cups panko breadcrumbs (for extra crispiness)
-
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
-
¼ teaspoon onion powder (optional)
-
½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
-
Salt & pepper, to taste
-
Vegetable oil, for frying
For the Marinara Sauce:
-
1 cup canned crushed tomatoes
-
1 clove garlic, minced
-
1 tablespoon olive oil
-
¼ teaspoon dried oregano
-
Salt & pepper, to taste
-
Fresh basil, chopped (optional)
For the Creamy Dip:
-
½ cup mayonnaise
-
¼ cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
-
1 tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar
-
1 teaspoon dried dill or parsley
-
1 clove garlic, minced
-
Salt & pepper, to taste
πͺ Instructions
π§ 1. Prep the Mozzarella Sticks:

Cut mozzarella into sticks or cubes. Place in freezer for 20–30 minutes to firm up (this prevents melting while frying).

Prepare 3 bowls:
-
Bowl 1: Flour + pinch of salt
-
Bowl 2: Beaten eggs
-
Bowl 3: Panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, onion powder, salt & pepper

π§ 2. Bread the Cheese:
-
Dredge each mozzarella piece in flour, tapping off excess.
-
Dip in beaten egg.
-
Roll in seasoned panko breadcrumbs.
-
Optional: Repeat egg + breadcrumb coating for extra crunch.

Freeze again for 10–15 minutes before frying.
π₯ 3. Fry the Mozzarella Sticks:

Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
-
Fry sticks in small batches until golden brown (about 1–2 minutes per side).
-
Remove with slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
π Quick Marinara Sauce:
-
Heat olive oil in a saucepan.
-
Add minced garlic, sauté until fragrant.
-
Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10–15 minutes.

Add fresh basil before serving, if desired.
π Creamy Dip:
-
In a bowl, mix mayo, sour cream, lemon juice, garlic, and herbs.

Season to taste. Chill until ready to serve.

Serve mozzarella sticks hot with both dips on the side.

Garnish with chopped parsley or grated Parmesan.
