Deep-Fried S’mores

Deep-Fried S’mores – A Decadent Twist on a Classic Treat

Image preview

It wasn’t a campfire night or a summer gathering—just a cloudy afternoon, and I was craving something sweet and nostalgic. I had the usual ingredients: graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate. But the standard microwave s’more just didn’t feel exciting enough.

That’s when the idea hit me—what if I took the classic s’more and deep-fried it? Imagine warm, gooey chocolate and marshmallow encased in a golden, crispy shell. It sounded indulgent, maybe a bit wild, but worth trying.

The result? A dreamy dessert that’s crunchy on the outside, molten on the inside, and impossible to stop eating. It’s everything you love about s’mores—but elevated, dramatic, and dangerously delicious.

What Are Deep-Fried S’mores?

Deep-fried s’mores are graham cracker sandwiches filled with marshmallow and chocolate, dipped in a fluffy batter, and fried until golden brown and crispy. It’s like fair food meets childhood favorite—decadent, nostalgic, and outrageously good.

Ingredients

  • 8 large marshmallows

  • 8 squares of milk chocolate (or preferred chocolate)

  • 8 graham cracker squares

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ¾ cup milk

  • 1 large egg

  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

  • Powdered sugar (optional, for garnish)

Tools You’ll Need

  • Mixing bowl & whisk

  • Deep fryer or heavy-bottomed skillet

  • Tongs or slotted spoon

  • Paper towels

  • Thermometer (for oil)

How to Make Deep-Fried S’mores

Step 1: Assemble the S’mores

Place a square of chocolate on one graham cracker, top with a marshmallow, and finish with another graham cracker to make a sandwich. Press gently to hold it together.

Step 2: Make the Batter

In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add milk and egg, whisking until you get a smooth, thick batter that can coat the s’mores.
Tip: Too thick? Add 1 tbsp of milk at a time. Too thin? Add a little flour.

Step 3: Heat the Oil

Pour oil into a deep fryer or skillet—enough to submerge the s’mores. Heat to 350°F (175°C). Test with a drop of batter; it should sizzle and float.

Step 4: Dip and Fry

Coat each s’more in batter, making sure it’s fully covered. Gently lower into the oil. Fry for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown. The marshmallow will puff and the chocolate will melt inside.

Step 5: Drain and Cool

Remove with tongs and place on paper towels to drain. Let cool slightly before serving.

Step 6: Garnish and Serve

Dust with powdered sugar for a pretty finish. Serve warm and gooey.
